Just found your Substack as a result of reading your book on retiring in Mexico. Grateful for your book and more grateful that you're an ally on this issue. Very frightening times. We hope to be Lake Chapala-bound very soon. Thanks again.
Congrats, although you might wish to investigate the toxicity of the lake and its inevitable effects on the residents from inhaling its evaporation, and the impact on the water table. Chapala is good weather, over-hyped and expensive for my tastes. And feels rather like a midwest retirement home in terms of the vibe. I vastly prefer Colima or Queretaro, although Queretaro is more expensive than Colima which is probably 25% less expensive than Chapala.
I got scared today...it all got to me.....anger seems to have been my sustaining force..until today...the 'FDA" approved a poison....a poison I refuse to take.....my body my choice, right? sigh.......I will wrap my mind around this fear and banish it from my brain.....regroup.....the governor/dictator here in Washington state just put the stupid mask mandate back in place....a trip OUT of this state to someplace freer is in order, methinks.....just sold our house in Mexico...hope we didn't sell the wrong house.....
Depending on where in Mexico, sounds like you did sell the wrong house. Were I offered a $10 million dollar La Jolla mansion for $3 million but I had to hold it for ten years and live there for six months a year, I would pass. The passage of this by the FDA is a mockery of the idea that the US is a first world country. It is a banana republic with rigged elections and a wholly captured regulatory system that dances for the highest bidder. At least the corruption in Mexico has limits, as the government still remembers a revolution that happened when it got too bad. Not so the US, which seems destined to become a fascist dystopia akin to China, where the masses are ruled by a coterie of elites who dictate terms, right down to how many children one can have. That is where the US is going, and it won't be long now until that is full blown. I believe this fall is going to see record numbers of hospitalizations and deaths among the vaxxed, that will be blamed on the unvaxxed, in a kind of class war designed to cover up depopulation. By the time folks figure out they've been had and are riddled with cancer or have no immune systems left or are sterile, it will be too late.
Casa Alma was in Akumal Mexico south of Playa Del Carmen and north of Tulum...it is becoming a chitchow there...cartel wars escalating....it was time to get out of there...we may look down the west side of Mexico this fall...October road trip here in the states...to BLUE states...Idaho, Nevada, Arizona...may have to go to California...ugh....come November, Mexico...San Felipe, Loreto....not sure where we want to be.....we are preparing here for the worst....praying for the best......I am grateful for my faith in Jesus Christ and know that at least my eternal destination is secure....

Thank you. Those are serious concerns. I will check Colima and Queretero.

Look hard at Colima.
Sad.
