The Asch experiment was a psychological study that examined the propensity of folks to go along with provably false claims. It found that humans have a tendency to go along with the group, sometimes because they’ve been gaslit into questioning their own observations, and sometimes to “fit in.”
I believe we are seeing this well understood trait being weaponized to encourage the population to ignore data that contradicts the official narratives. It doesn’t work 100% of the time, but it doesn’t really have to. Just enough so that those who are likely to succumb to the astroturfing fall for it. Why? Because if nearly 40% will fall for it naturally, and another 30% will because they aren’t smart enough to see the flaw in their assumptions, that’s 70%, and the other 30% can be dismissed as kooks or conspiracy theorists or malcontents, further reinforcing the certitude in those who have fallen for Asch conformity.
When psychology is weaponized against a population, that population is largely doomed. Welcome to the propaganda warfare state.
The growing totalitarian forces are marshaling their forces. We're getting perilously close to the hellscape described so brilliantly in your DAN series, those not preparing right now, as if their lives depended on it are foolish and soon to be dead fools, if you have the means, you really should be stacking food and supplies, more if you can manage it, but do something, the hell we're in for will make the great depression look tame, a veritable brunch session with the girlz in comparison.
Thanks, Russell. What bothers me more than the conformity of the uninformed and innocent public is the outrageous conformity of the scientists involved in the present 'event.' I understand the professional, institutional pressures but not the denial of so much of the foundations of science.
