I got suspended on Twitter & didn't look at it for about the same amount of time. When I logged back in, I found everything on my acct was wiped.

A blessing in disguise.

I see it differently now; not a source of latest news/trends etc, but a place to pointlessly argue and one up others w/ caustic wit.

BFD b/c @ the end of the day, nobody's mind is changed nor viewpoints expanded. So the question I asked is 'Why do it?'

FB?

I've been on it a fair bit the last 2 days:

1/ Keeping in touch w/ a family of Cubans we met the last time we were there (Christmas 2019)

2/ Staying in touch w a friend who's been driving 1 1/2 hr / day to support the truckers 'insurrection' (LOL) in Ottawa.

Yeah, social media's a time suck.

Congrats on the hook up w/ big shot. I hope it's Lee Child. The last Reacher book (his brother wrote it) was pretty bad.

BUT

The Amazon series was perfect. P E R F E C T. Great casting.

I haven't glanced at my Twitter feed in over two years. I presume it's either dead, or dying. Shrug.

As you know, in your FB absence, I normally post your Substack posts on your TL, albeit via your comments section.

However, I hesitate to do so this time - some of your fans have little choice but to live much of their lives through a tiny social media screen and I know you wouldn't wish to hurt them.

On the other hand, I'm sure they'd love to hear news from you.

Please advise.

Multiple Congratulations. Ex-FB freedom and all that entails; you’re a helluva lot better off without it. Social Media is an absorber - a sink into which time is consumed while interfering in productivity and calmness - kinda like anti-meditation. Also congrats on a new coming series which we followers of your creations look forward to. And major congrats on your defeat of the virus. Your being able to take advantage of HCQ & IVM is another excellent advantage of living in Mexico. Well done, all the way around!

Anything to know about recent spate of shootings in Colima? (I am from New Orleans where there are more shootings than reported in Colima this week every day, and carjackings are rampant).

Apparently the Jalisco and the Michoacan cartels are having a dispute, so they're shooting each other's street dealers. Happens all over Mexico whenever a politician promises the town to two parties and they have to settle it with gunfire. Far as I know nobody outside of Cartel involvement has been targeted other than the governor, who the word on the street says took support from the wrong cartel, and then once elected, reneged. Who knew politicians everywhere were lying scumbags?

Thanks for the update, Russell, and glad you recovered and are your usual productive self.

Nevertheless, and more importantly, you did miss us, didn’t you?

Pretty sure we had it too, but we never got tested, just like we've never been jabbed. No plans to. It was about like an average cold (I usually get the flu, rarely a cold, but I remember what it's like). Glad you're feeling better and that you haven't missed FB at all.
